Invisibility Shield Co., a UK-based start-up, has developed a cloaking device that is set to hit the market soon. The company has raised €312,312 through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to finance the idea. The device, which appears to make people and objects disappear, works through an optical trick. The surface of the cloak reflects light horizontally, making objects behind it invisible. The device does not require a power source and is priced at €59 for the small version and €359 for the large version.

While the Invisibility Shield Co.’s device is more of a toy, it demonstrates significant progress in the field of optical camouflage technology. Other products, such as artificial skin that can change color for camouflage, aim to achieve complete invisibility. These technologies are primarily intended for military use, allowing soldiers to hide from enemies during operations.

The Invisibility Shield Co.’s device has already produced several functioning cloaks, and the company plans to release them to the market soon. The small version measures 310 x 210 mm and the large version measures 950 x 650 mm. The device does not require a power source and is priced at €59 for the small version and €359 for the large version. The device works through an optical trick, reflecting light horizontally to make objects behind it invisible. While the device is not intended for military use, it demonstrates significant progress in the field of optical camouflage technology.
