The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in companies is rapidly increasing, and according to a recent study by the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV), up to 40% of employees may need to be retrained in the next three years. The study surveyed over 3,000 executives and 21,000 employees, and the results suggest that AI will not replace humans in the workforce, but rather support them. Companies that understand this nuance early on could gain a competitive advantage. However, this trend will affect people at all career levels, with young professionals being particularly affected.

The study indicates that crucial skills such as those in the Mint fields may take a backseat to skills such as communication, teamwork, and flexibility. Forward-thinking companies are already adapting their training and recruitment policies to this changing landscape. The authors of the study expect significant changes in industries such as customer service and marketing, where chatbots will play a significant role. Nevertheless, most employees are expected to work alongside AI in newly designed roles.

The IBV study also found that most business leaders view AI positively and predict around 15% more revenue through its use and targeted employee training. Companies that focus on generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT expect even higher profit increases of up to 36% compared to others. Employees are also optimistic about the AI-driven future, with job fulfillment being a significant factor alongside salary. With AI taking over routine tasks, they could focus more on meaningful work.
