Sierra Space, a private space company, is developing a Hypersonic Transport System for the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) that will be capable of delivering people and cargo to any location on Earth in under three hours. The Dream Chaser, a Hypersonic aircraft, is being designed to transport heavy payloads for logistics and personnel transportation for the US military. The CEO of Sierra Space, Tom Vice, stated that the company plans to use this technology to deliver unique ultra-high-speed solutions to the Department of Defense. The Dream Chaser will be the first commercial spacecraft in the world, and it will be used to transport cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2023.

To ensure that the US military’s cargo is delivered as quickly as possible, Sierra Space plans to establish loading points in Earth’s orbit. Multiple rockets will be used to position cargo in space, which will then be taken over by the Dream Chaser. In addition to military applications, the Dream Chaser will also be used as a spacecraft. Rocket Lab USA is also developing a Neutron Rocket that can deliver cargo to any point on Earth in the shortest possible time, using depots in orbit. However, neither the Dream Chaser nor the Neutron Rocket has yet completed a flight.

The USTRANSCOM estimates that Hypersonic Transport will be possible in about ten years. China also plans to offer commercial flights at Mach 6 (7,413 km/h) by 2035. Sierra Space’s Hypersonic Transport System is a significant development in the field of space technology, and it has the potential to revolutionize the way we transport people and cargo around the world.
