Belgian Start-up Quadvelo has recently unveiled a new hybrid vehicle that combines the features of a bicycle and a car. The Quadvelo has been in development for six years and boasts a body with doors and a rear hatch to protect the driver from the elements. Despite its size and weight, the vehicle is classified as a bicycle and can legally be ridden on bike paths and in areas where cars are prohibited. The Quadvelo has a range of up to 75 kilometers and can reach speeds of up to 25 km/h.

The German start-up Hopper Mobility recently developed a similar hybrid vehicle, which is classified as a pedelec in Germany and can also be ridden on bike paths. The Hopper has enough space for two people and a trunk volume of 90 liters, making it comparable to a conventional car. The Quadvelo, on the other hand, has a weight of 85 kilograms and a maximum load capacity of 200 kilograms, making it suitable for transporting goods as well as people.

The Quadvelo is equipped with a range of comfort features, including an adjustable seat, an interactive display, and an integrated ventilation system. The storage space in the rear, the lighting, the side mirrors, and the turn signals resemble those of a compact car. However, the vehicle is powered by pedals, with an electric motor providing assistance to the rider. The Quadvelo is priced at around 9,900 euros and is currently being mass-produced, with plans to increase production in the future.
