A new technology has been developed by Homei Miyashita from Meiji University in Japan, called “Taste the TV”. This system consists of a conventional LCD screen and a flavor dispenser, allowing users to taste the objects displayed on the screen by licking it. The system has ten small cartridges with different flavor liquids, which can be mixed to create diverse tastes. The system can also apply the taste to crackers and other foods placed on a small tray. The plastic film above the display is rolled over the screen, allowing users to taste the flavor. The plastic film is then rolled back in, cut, and replaced with a new one to ensure hygiene.

The development of “Taste the TV” took about a year, and the production cost of the flavor cartridges was around $875. The system could be used in restaurants or events to showcase food. However, it is not yet known if any partner companies have shown interest in using the technology in their establishments.

This new technology is a unique and innovative way to experience food and could potentially revolutionize the food industry. The ability to taste food through a screen could also have implications for those with dietary restrictions or allergies, allowing them to experience different flavors without consuming the actual food.
